We all were looking for a refreshing holiday after all this Corona outbreak and hence decided to take a trip to Lama Dugh Trek. I along with some friends planned a trip to this amazing paradise, and as everyone said, we also ended up saying this one line for Manali- “Camping is the best activity anyone can do to stay energized and refreshed.
Without any doubt, Manali is one of the prettiest places to visit across India, visually! Deck up mountains, beautiful locations, camping activities, scenic valleys, lush greenery and peace of nature, etc. are some of the things every visitor will experience in Manali. Actually, the other purpose of visiting Manali and trekking was we all wanted to escape from the day-to-day schedules.
Hence, last April we decided to visit Manali and booked our journey with Soundarya Safar. I must say what a team, and the leader himself. They assisted us and took us to Lamadugh Valley Trek. This trek seems challenging for the beginners but the team from Soundarya Safar supported us and their team leader, Mr. Raj motivated us thoroughly and thus we completed the trek without any hassle.
Actually, I am fond of adventure activities but have never done trekking in my life. So this was my first trek. Before visiting the Lama Dugh trek, we went to the Jogni waterfall and enjoyed it a lot. After taking lunch, we went to the campsite. There was a road covered with mountains, forests, and rivers. It was almost 2.5 kilometers and then we entered the deep forest and also did a river crossing. Finally, we reached Manali Solang valley and came to the road, and started the Jogini waterfall trek.
We enjoyed that trek also, after completing the trek we returned and reached the campsite. Now the most exciting part is coming and that is a trek to Lamadhudh. Before starting the trek, Mr, Raj shared and explained all the related information with us like when to take lunch, when to get ready, what important things to carry, what extra care should be taken, and whatnot.
It was almost 6.30 in the morning and we started the trek. We were provided a packed lunch and finally departed from the campsite. After walking three kilometers, we entered the forest but we were almost 6700 feet above and all were extremely tired. Within an hour, we completed the road and entered the forest.
As we entered the forest, our team leader, Mr. Raj, told us to fill the water bottle when we see any pond or water source. After that, there were no changes to get water in between. We again started climbing and faced a big rock. The rock is known as the “Lion King Rock”. We took a rest and had lunch. Trust me the view, the 360-degree view we experienced while climbing the rock was amazing and we all felt too lost in nature.
If you don’t want to visit Lamadugh, you can take a rest here and enjoy yourself with friends or family members. This place is not that popular but it's relaxing. Moreover, you also won’t get any food or tea stalls over here, so it would be ideal to keep a water bottle and some snacks with you. Keep paper or disposable dishes also so that you can easily throw all the waste after the journey ends.
Again we started climbing and reached the ground. We took a rest, and our trek leader again gave us some information, showed some pics, and explained some information about forest visits and plantations. Here I don’t have enough words to explain what I felt. It was just mesmerizing and what a peace I got from within. Sound of cool breeze, wind, and natural air.
When the wind touched the tree, it created some amazing voices and it was just wonderful. As we started climbing and were about to reach the top, we were enjoying scenic views and felt adventurous. In the last two hours of trekking, there was rain and we missed one trek. We still kept climbing and finally reached a second water source, we again took a sip of water and filled the bottle.
It was extremely cold water and we felt shocked because we have experienced this kind of coldness in water. Finally, we reached Lamadugh Valley, took pics, and enjoyed ourselves a lot and suddenly the weather was not in our favor. With the voice of the rain, and clouds, everyone got scared but our trek leader Mr. Raj came into action and told us to start Down Trek and also informed us to start as soon as possible or else we might feel lots of trouble.
We started down the trek and after three hours we finally reached the first water source. Again we took a rest and felt a peace that we all reached without any hassle. It was literally terrible, we all fell down and some of the people broke all the rules and kept walking. And then three to four-person forgot the route and lost themselves in forests.
Then we contacted our team leader and informed him that we forgot the path and didn't know where to go and where to reach. The Trek leader told us to sit near the water source and again he started climbing, went to the forest and found every person. He also punished them and told them to never break rules. Really, Mr. Raj is really knowledgeable and experienced in trekking and I also found him courageous.
Because it is extremely difficult to find a lost person in the deep forests. He also shared some of the tips and explained what things to consider while trekking. How to pack begs, tie shoeless, share some stories, and also entertain us. In short, we were enjoying the journey.
Finally, we came out of the forest and reached the campsite. Indeed, it was really a thrilling experience and I don’t have enough words to explain this. And one thing is for sure, I will always prefer Soundarya Safar for trekking activities. What a team and what a joy.
